Associate (Corporate/Commercial)

A mid-level / senior Associate (Corporate/Commercial) role has become available at a Malaysian law firm due to expansion to its corporate division.

About the Legal Associate (Corporate/Commercial) Role:
This role is for an associate with appetite for international and cross-border work and to work with the firm’s local and international teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing, vetting, and preparing a broad range of corporate and commercial contracts
• Rendering legal opinions/advice to clients by conducting extensive legal research and keeping abreast with all relevant legislations and regulations
• Independently handling all range of corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and cross-border investments
• Liaising with clients, be it domestic or international clients including MNCs, with minimal supervision and proactively and regularly reporting to the Partner on the progress, process, and implementation on all matters
• Proactively and independently exploring opportunities for the purposes of expanding and maintaining business relations (domestically and internationally), and to actively participate and conduct webinars, trainings, podcasts, with the view of developing the firm’s brand and network

To succeed in this role, you must have strong corporate expertise, be driven and dynamic and look forward to long term growth and success with the firm.

Key Requirements:

• Admitted to the High Court of Malaya
• A minimum of 4 - 5 years of PQE in corporate practice
• Sound technical legal knowledge in corporate structures and corporate governance, commercial transactions, strong legal research skills, meticulous, detailed-oriented, and thorough
• Excellent interpersonal skills and highly proficient in written and spoken English
• Flexible with mobility and willing to work in any of the firm’s international offices
