Head of Legal

A leading global organisation is seeking a Head of Legal to oversee legal operations across multiple regions. What you'll do:

As Head of Legal you will play an instrumental role in guiding the organisation through an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

• Analyse complex legal risks and including company law, competition law, anti-corruption law, personal data law, food law, intellectual property law, property/land law, and environmental law to develop strategies that support sustainable business growth.
• Conduct ongoing legal watch activities by identifying emerging trends and weak signals that may affect the business unit’s operations or reputation.
• Implement organisational guidelines and policies with the aim of reducing legal risk while protecting business assets across all jurisdictions.
• Manage legal process systems such as intellectual property portfolios, contract management policies, confidentiality protocols, dawn raid procedures, personal data privacy processes, and electronic contract validation mechanisms.
• Oversee corporate and litigation reporting requirements for headquarters while managing company secretarial matters in line with local corporate law requirements.
• Serve as a permanent member of the crisis management team by participating in crisis response planning and managing all associated legal issues effectively.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage highly complex commercial contracts including sales agreements, distribution contracts, service agreements or any other documents required by the business unit.

What you bring:

To excel as Head of Legal you will bring extensive legal experience.

• A minimum post-qualification experience (PQE) of 8-10 years and admission as Advocate & Solicitor or Legal Practitioner (or equivalent) at the Malaysian Bar is essential for this position.
• Demonstrated business acumen with proven ability to multitask efficiently while handling complex projects across multiple jurisdictions.
• Expertise in maintaining high levels of empowerment within legal & compliance teams coupled with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables.
• Collaborative mindset evidenced by strong interpersonal communication skills; adept at building consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
• Exceptional negotiation abilities particularly in drafting reviewing or negotiating highly contested agreements under tight deadlines.
