Chief Legal Officer

What you'll do:

As the CLO, you will lead the company’s global legal strategy, ensuring compliance, risk management, and structural integrity across our multi-jurisdictional operations. You'll tackle challenges like entity setups (e.g., in Cyprus, UAE, Hong Kong), regulatory compliance for payment agents and brokers, and legal support for fundraising.

This role is critical for mitigating audit risks, optimizing inter-entity agreements, and aligning legal priorities with business growth in fintech. You'll collaborate with C-suite leaders and build a robust legal team.

• Offer expert legal counsel to the executive team on matters including corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and risk management
• Ensure strict adherence to local and international laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Draft, scrutinise, and negotiate high-stakes contracts and agreements
• Handle and resolve intricate legal disputes and litigation
• Formulate and implement robust legal policies and procedures
• Lead and nurture the legal team while promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to offer legal insights that bolster strategic business objectives

What you bring:

With at least 15 years of experience under your belt, you have honed your expertise in corporate law, intellectual property rights, data privacy regulations, and other technology-related legal issues. Your ability to lead high-performing teams is proven by your past experiences. Your analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and strategic mindset will be key in providing pragmatic legal solutions.

• Bachelor of Laws degree from a top-tier/reputable university
• At least 15 years of rich legal experience with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role within the banking/fintech/technology sector

• Demonstrated expertise in international entity structuring, cross-border compliance, and regulatory affairs across regions such as the UAE, Hong Kong, and the European Union.
• Proven track record in supporting fundraising efforts (Series C and beyond), IPO readiness, and governance design, including investor agreements and legal risk management.
• Deep understanding of corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, employment law, and fintech regulations related to payments and broker-dealer operations.
• Strong strategic advisory and negotiation capabilities, supported by proficiency in legal tech tools and experience managing distributed legal teams.
