SEVP/EVP, Legal, Co Sec & Corporate Governance
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEVP/VP, Legal, Co Secretarial & Corporate Governance to join their fast expanding team. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with local legal licence requirements, internal controls, statutory regulations, and governance policies through regular monitoring.
What you'll do:
As the SEVP/VP, Legal, Co Secretarial & Corporate Governance, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive legal support to our client's executive team. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing various legal documents, collaborating with other executives on implementing legal strategies, communicating effectively with external parties, staying updated on changes in law that affect the company's operations, and managing the company's legal budget.
- Provide accurate and timely legal support on a variety of relevant issues
- Ensure compliance with local legal licence requirements, internal controls, statutory regulations, and governance policies
- Draft and review the legality of transactions, contracts, agreements, and joint ventures
- Collaborate with executive officers and management in the implementation of legal strategies
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties such as regulators, external counsel, public authorities
- Keep up-to-date with current changes in all relevant areas of law
- Manage the company's corporate secretarial matters as and when required to do so
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this SEVP/VP, Legal, Co Secretarial & Corporate Governance position brings a wealth of experience in both legal and corporate secretarial. You have proven your ability to provide comprehensive legal support on a variety of issues including labour law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance. Your excellent drafting skills have been honed through years of creating and reviewing various types of legal documents. You are adept at negotiating with external parties such as regulators and public authorities. Your commitment to staying updated on changes in all relevant areas of law ensures that you can always provide the most accurate and timely advice.
- Proven experience as a Legal Counsel and/or Company Secretary
- Candidates who are called to the Malaysian Bar and/or equipped with BOTH LLB & ICSA qualifications will be viewed favorably
- Excellent ability to draft and review a wide range of legal documents
- Strong negotiation skills with external parties such as regulators, external counsel, public authorities
- Ability to stay updated on changes in all relevant areas of law
