Legal Manager (Luxury Brand)

LEGAL MANAGER (Luxury Brand) Our client is seeking a dependable Legal Manager to join their group in Kuala Lumpur. This role is integral to the protection of the company's legal interests and ensuring senior management are kept informed of the company's legal position at all times. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to identify areas for improvement and play a significant role in building a strong legal system for the company.

What you'll do:

As a Legal Manager, your role will be versatile and dynamic. Key responsibilities:

• Review, comment on, and discuss Franchise Agreements, Lease/Tenancy Agreements, and various operational agreements with Management.
• Communicate and negotiate agreements alongside the Chief Operating Officer (COO) when required.
• Handle and manage the Company’s leases/tenancies for various brands and outlets.
• Manage registrations and renewals of the Company’s logos, trademarks, franchises, licenses, and duty-free licenses.
• Work with Company Secretary to prepare Corporate Secretarial documents.
• Handle, manage, and monitor litigation cases involving the Company.
• Assist COO and senior management in drafting letters to Principals, Landlords, and other third parties.
• Prepare legal report and update for the President’s review.
• Document management of all contracts, agreements, and legal documentation.
• Assist Human Resource Department in drafting letters and contracts of employment.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Legal Manager role will bring a wealth of skills to the table. Key requirement:

• Law degree and Bar admission in a Commonwealth jurisdiction.
• Minimum 3+ years' PQE in corporate/commercial law, with experience in both international law firms and in-house at a multinational.
• Skilled in corporate transactions, with exposure to regional work preferably in the retail/FMCG sector.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Melayu; effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commercially savvy with sound legal risk assessment and strategic thinking.
• Self-driven, thrives under pressure, and excels in fast-paced environments.
• Adaptable with experience in organizational change and stakeholder management.
