What you'll do:
As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be at the forefront of the organisation's legal affairs. Key responsibilities including: -
- Provide legal counsel and guidance on matters related to general insurance and life insurance including regulatory compliance, policy drafting, claims handling, and litigation management.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Review and negotiate various contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to develop effective legal strategies and solutions.
- Proactively identify potential legal risks and provide recommendations to mitigate such risks.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance legal awareness within the organisation, when required.
- Manage external legal counsel when required, ensuring cost-effective representation.
- Stay updated with changes in laws impacting the insurance industry and advise senior management accordingly.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior legal team members.
What you bring:
As the ideal candidate for the Senior Legal Counsel position, you bring a wealth of legal experience.
- A qualified lawyer with no less than 7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in the insurance industry, possessing in-depth knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry practices.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, with proven experience in providing legal advice on general insurance matters.
- Skilled in leadership and relationship-building, with excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Upholds a high level of integrity and professionalism, committed to ethical conduct while leading teams effectively.
