Legal Manager

• Be at the heart of new project developments and innovation alongside the headquarters team in China.
• Drive corporate transactions related to international JVs, M&As, technology and IP for the business.

What you'll do:

As Legal Manager you will play a pivotal role in protecting the organisation’s interests by providing expert guidance on a wide array of legal issues.

The primary responsibilities are:

• Provide comprehensive legal support to business leaders on corporate transactions related to international joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, technology projects, and intellectual property matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements to ensure alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Advise various business units on legal risks, compliance issues, and best practices while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
• Support strategic initiatives focused on technology transfer, supply chain optimisation, and automotive component partnerships by offering sound legal counsel.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures that promote compliance with local and international standards within the automotive sector.
• Monitor changes in legislation affecting the organisation’s operations and proactively communicate implications to stakeholders.

What you bring:

To excel as Legal Manager in this role, you will bring proven experience in the automotive sector with strong foreign stakeholder management (China) and communication capabilities. Your background should include substantial exposure to corporate transactions and drafting complex commercial contracts.

• Degree in Law (LLB Hons) from a recognised institution is essential for this role.
• Admission as Advocate & Solicitor to the Malaysian Bar.
• A minimum of 8 - 10 years’ experience with demonstrated experience providing legal support for corporate transactions involving international joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, technology or intellectual property matters within a multinational context.
• Ability to work independently and provide clear, practical legal advice tailored to operational needs is important for supporting business objectives.
• Mandarin language proficiency.
