A global player in the mining and natural resources industry is seeking a Legal Specialist to engage in commercial legal work with the business.
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Legal Specialist to join their dynamic team. This role provides strategic commercial legal advice and drives innovation within a global legal function.

What you'll do:
As a Legal Specialist, your role will be pivotal in providing strategic commercial legal advice and leading projects that support the global legal team.
The primary responsibilities are:
- Provide strategic legal advice and lead projects to support the global legal team and business stakeholders.
- Support negotiation and drafting of material commercial contracts.
- Advise on and respond to developments in key relevant areas of law.
- Update and maintain legal governance documents and standard contract suite.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives including developing and maintaining documents, standardised documentation, checklists and guidance materials.
- Work with the legal operations function to lead and drive technology innovation.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Legal Specialist must have role strong experience in negotiating commercial contracts (goods, services, software, commodities - or relevant experience with M&A or finance contracting).
You must also possess the following:
- A minimum of 6 years PQE, admitted to practice in Malaysia.
- Commonwealth law degree and qualification preferred.
- Strong experience in negotiating commercial contracts.
- Experience in managing legal improvement projects (process innovation/automation, internal guidance materials and templates) would be advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong and pragmatic commercial judgement.
- Innovative thinker.
