What you'll do:
As an Associate General Counsel / Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in corporate and commercial law dealings such as mergers & acquisitions, corporate transactions, and operational matters.
The primary responsibilities are:
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on contracts/legal documentations for mergers & acquisitions, corporate transactions and operational matters
- Interpret, analyse, identify, apply and resolve issues arising under the law and regulatory requirements
- Provide updates on laws/regulatory matters that affect the group of companies, both local and overseas
- Responsible for providing guidance and legal advice to internal stakeholders of the group of companies, both local and overseas
- Liaise and coordinate with external solicitors on all matters involving the group of companies, both local and overseas as required
- Build and maintain good business relationships with all various internal and external stakeholders to safeguard the interests of the group of companies
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this role will bring a wealth of experience from their time as a practicing lawyer and/or in-house legal counsel.
You must also possess the following:
- Degree in Law (LLB) and called to the Malaysian Bar
- A minimum of 7 – 15 years PQE.
- Experience across a public listed company or MNC with exposure to plantations / construction / litigation / financing preferred.
- High level competency in handling legal documentation
- Ability to provide reliable and quality legal advice taking into account commercial needs and business expediency
- Strong negotiating skills
