A consumer goods business is looking for an Associate Counsel to be part of the legal team driving new initiatives and product launches and to execute legal work catering towards research and development for an organization that is evolving like no other.

The successful Associate Counsel will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal impact.

What you'll do:

As an Associate Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's organisation.

The primary responsibilities are:

  • Act as commercial counsel to the business, with a focus on all aspects of third-party procurement, supplier relationships and distribution, as well as providing strategic input to support business initiatives
  • Structure, negotiate, draft, and advise on execution of transactions including distribution agreements, partnering agreements and manufacturing or supply agreements and non-disclosure agreements
  • Provide guidance on application of group policies, procedures and governance to proposed and operational third party and intra-group arrangements
  • Support the legal team in drafting contracts and maintaining contract templates
  • Bring efficiencies in relation to the negotiation of commercial contracts, the administration and management of its contract portfolio (and such other portfolios maintained or required to be maintained by the team)
  • Provide pragmatic advice and support to relevant functions, locally and globally
  • Ensure robust corporate governance is in place for internal compliance
  • Support legal and regulatory risks of business operations in all aspects and safeguard legitimate business rights to pursue strategic objectives
  • Ensure efficient administration and management of the New Categories legal team agreements portfolio

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Associate Counsel role brings a wealth of experience in commercial law, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property in respect of patents. With excellent written and spoken communication skills, you are comfortable communicating complex legal issues in a straightforward manner.

You would possess the following:

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4 years PQE.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages such as Mandarin are an advantage
  • Knowledge of contract management tools.
  • Significant experience and expertise of commercial law, regulatory compliance, and patents
  • Demonstrate personal and professional experience by sharing best practices and knowledge efficiently and concentrating at being lawyers at the heart of the business
  • Excellent legal drafting skills
