A global semiconductor company is recruiting for a Legal Counsel job to drive legal matters for Malaysia (with opportunities to work on regional/global issues with the worldwide legal team for this US MNC) as part of business expansion plans alongside significant investments in operations.
About the Legal CounselRole: Key areas of work will include advising on compliance areas, counselling on strategic contractual and supply chain issues, helping optimise/automate contracting processes, and managing litigation/external counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage legal matters pertaining to the organisation
Provide a variety of general corporate and commercial legal services to several in-house clients
Advise on legal issues involving the organisation's government and regulatory compliance
Review legal data and advise on appropriate legal action to be taken
Perform litigation management or coordinate litigation and other legal matters handled by outside counsel
Work on general corporate matters, draft transactional documents, advise on compliance areas of employment, anti-corruption, real estate, environmental, safety and health, data privacy and manage corporate organisation matters such as contracting, , risk management, and contract management
To succeed in this Legal Counsel role, you will need to be comfortable establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success (internally and externally) and be able to work autonomously and in teams across people in different functions.
Key Requirements:
Minimum a bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent with a bar qualification in at least one jurisdiction
At least three years’ experience in private practice and/or in-house
Proficient in drafting various types of contracts
Excellent interpersonal, communication and English language skills with a high level of integrity and leadership
Readiness to travel regularly between Kuala Lumpur and Melaka and undertake occasional international travel
