In this job, you will take on a vital role in supporting exciting change and development for all things legal-related in this fast-growing landscape.

About the Legal and Compliance Officer Role:
You are required to deliver strategic advice and solutions, manage legal risks as well as draft, review and negotiate transactional documents in respect of the group's legal and compliance function and render legal advice and support to various business units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare documents related to legal advice, memorandums, presentations, policies, procedures and training
• Draft and review agreements such as NDAs, contract addendums/extensions and contract renewals and terminations
• Research and draft reports and summaries of research, external advice and case for internal and external stakeholders
• Manage projects, liaise and coordinate with external parties to follow up on business projects
• Compile, prepare and maintain proper files/records of relevant documentation such as Board and Board Committee papers, minutes, Chairmans’ briefs, etc.
• Prepare and file notices and documentation and support ‘know your customers’ due diligence processes
• Support the Office of General Counsel and corporate record retention and maintenance including assisting with the design of department systems and processes system implementation and roll-out
• Keep proper records including maintaining sharepoint sites and databases such as of all pending and threatened litigation, templates, conflicts of interest and license registers and ‘know how’ libraries
• Maintain and continuously improve the contract repository and other management information databases including assuring quality and completeness
• Review and monitor new and updated laws and regulations and write articles for internal or external circulation

Key Requirements:

• Degree in law and a qualified advocate and solicitor in Malaysia
• Problem solving skills and strategic in thinking with strong analytical skills
• Strong regulatory compliance knowledge within insurance including some knowledge of data privacy, financial crimes regulations e.g. AML, CTF and ABC and corporate law are encouraged to apply
• Strong ability to identify legal risks, review and enhance documentation and processes
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about constant improvement and innovation
• Self-motivated individual with excellent organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
