One of the region's leading plantation companies with exciting career prospects and opportunities (both locally and domestically) is now seeking a high-calibre Group General Counsel, Legal to join their fast-expanding company.

About the Group General Counsel, Legal Role:
You are required to lead and drive the legal department by providing timely, high quality and solutions oriented legal advice/services to the board, management and business teams/operating units in line with group policies and procedures to protect the interests of the group. Reporting to the Group MD, you are responsible for leading and driving the legal department to advise and resolve any legal issues arising under contracts, transactions, legal/regulatory requirements and the group's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on, review, comment, negotiate and draft contracts/legal documentation for commercial/operational/corporate transactions (“Transactions”) and interpret, analyse, identify, apply and resolve issues arising under the law, and regulatory requirements which may be applicable to such transactions
• Provide updates on laws/ regulatory matters that may affect the group
• Identify, apply and interpret the Group Policies and Authorities (GPA) and SOPs of the group
• Advise and recommend the appointment of external lawyers, and liaise and instruct external legal counsel clearly in order to maximise the effectiveness of their engagement so that solutions oriented advice/opinions are given
• Oversee legal matters relating to mergers & acquisitions, corporate exercises, investments, shareholders/joint venture partners’ related issues, evaluate/review and structure deals and advise on all relevant legal/regulatory issues

To succeed in this role, you would need to have at least 15 years of experience in similar position or capacity. Candidates with exposure to PLC/large conglomerate work experiences are encouraged to apply.
