Legal Manager (Banking/Capital Markets)

One of the region’s leading financial institution is seeking a high-calibre Legal Manager to join their legal department based in Kuala Lumpur.

About the Legal Manager Role:
Reporting to the Head, Legal, you will be responsible for providing world-class functional banking legal services to the bank’s legal and corporate functions as well as be involved in interactions with all levels of management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal support to various divisions, including middle office and back-office units under this financial group
• Identify and highlight legal risks, recommending improvements to work procedures and documentation to strengthen legal risk management.
• Ensure smooth operations of the Investment Banking business by supporting services and reviewing or drafting documents (as and when applicable) to mitigate legal risks and maintain compliance with industry standards.
• Manage litigation matters when required.
• Handle ad hoc legal issues as they arise.

This successful candidate must be highly organisational and independent, able to manage diverse stakeholders and work under pressure in a dynamic environment and with at least 7 PQE and above

Key Requirements:

• Preferably with minimum 6 years of relevant working experience in-house legal counsel/ or as practicing lawyer. Additional relevant experience in other sectors of
• Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years in a top-tier legal firm specializing in corporate commercial law, banking law, or capital markets.
• Strong knowledge of litigation, employment law, company law, and banking law.
• Relevant legal certifications or equivalent qualifications will be an advantage.
• Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
