An exciting Senior Legal Counsel role has just been made available at a leading financial institution with a focus in global markets and securities services.
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel for their Global Markets and Securities Services team to work on OTC derivatives transactions and other products and initiatives, ISDAs, trade confirmations and product term sheets, custody and clearing, REITs and investor services etc.

What you'll do:
As a Senior Legal Counsel, your primary focus will be to provide legal advice on matters related to global markets and securities services.
The primary responsibilities are:
- Provides legal advice and support to the business in respect of the relevant products and initiatives (including digital innovation, and development of digital platforms, services and products).
- Develop and maintain legal and contractual templates.
- Liaising with external counsel when necessary and in a cost-effective manner.
- Participate in and provide legal support for various local and regional projects and initiatives.
- Support the risk management framework and partner with business teams in Singapore in addressing non-legal issues and risks (such as reputational risk and conduct risk).
- Attending and presenting at various risk and fiduciary forums, steering committees, board meetings (as required).
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Legal Counsel role brings proven experience in financial services. You have strong knowledge of banking laws and regulations, which you use to provide expert advice and ensure organisational compliance.
You must also possess the following:
- Qualified Lawyer with at least 7 years' relevant experience (in-house and/or private practice) in financial services.
- Experienced and confident practitioner.
- Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes.
- Ability to handle a diverse range of issues, deal with new or unexpected situations and work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong inter-personal skills
- Excellent negotiation and drafting skills and will have demonstrated the ability to take initiative and apply good commercial and legal judgment with up-to-date knowledge of developments in own industry sector.
- Lateral thinking/problem solving and a collaborative teammate, but also a self-starter who is able to work independently with an entrepreneurial drive.
