The global legal team of an international bank has one availability for a Legal Counsel (AVP) in the areas of financing and securities services, providing key counsel in prime services to custody, clearing and fund services.
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join their dynamic international team spanning across Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and London. This critical role will involve advising senior management, businesses and products, draft and review legal documents and take up key project work on client assets regulation.

What you'll do:
As a Legal Counsel (AVP), your role will be varied and impactful in the areas across the investment lifecycle and in client assets regulation in 30+ jurisdictions – from prime services to custody, clearing and fund services.
The primary responsibilities are:
- Advise, draft and negotiate legal documents including custody agreements, trust deeds, and fund administration agreements.
- Advise on new product development and other customised services.
- Spearhead projects to update and management of legal opinions and playbooks abd develop new legal templates.
- Horizon scanning of regulatory developments, support to develop new product solutions relating to digital assets, technology and data solutioning for clients and ESG products.
- Ensure remediation of existing legal documentation for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
What you bring:
As the ideal candidate for the Legal Counsel (AVP) position, you bring a wealth of knowledge in commercial law and legal analysis from the context of banking and financial services.
You must also possess the following:
- Qualified lawyer from a commonwealth jurisdiction with strong academic background.
- A minimum of 5 PQE with experienced developed from a established law firm or in-house in financial services. Familiarity with ISDAs is beneficial.
- Possess knowledge of banking products regulatory framework and requirements.
- Experience in fund or asset management would be advantageous.
