A leading homegrown financial institution is seeking a Manager in Data Ethics & Privacy to join their Group Strategy & Innovation team.
This role champions data privacy and ethical best practices, ensuring the effective management and handling of sensitive data. What you'll do:
As a Manager for Data Ethics & Privacy, you will play a crucial role in mitigating data protection and privacy risks within the organisation.
The primary responsibilities are:
- Oversee effective management and handling of sensitive data.
- Advise on the conduct of data protection risk assessments.
- Serve as subject matter expert on data protection and privacy matters.
- Develop materials on data ethics, privacy, and protection to drive business goals and to educate employees on their responsibilities, rights, and obligations regarding data privacy and security.
- Review and implement relevant frameworks, policies, or procedures to reflect best practices, emerging technologies and evolving regulatory environments.
- Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Contact for regulatory authorities on data-related matters
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this role brings a keen interest in new and emerging technologies (including cloud computing, AI, open banking, and blockchain) intertwined with data protection.
You must also possess the following:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience from a legal background and experienced in data protection, compliance, ethics/governance or related functions.
- CIPP/CIPM or comparable privacy certifications are highly advantageous
- Ability to demonstrate competency and experience of data protection laws and best practices, develop and implement a data protection compliance program and oversee effective management and handling of sensitive data.
- Expertise in conducting risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks.
- Knowledge of designing and implementing data protection methods.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure and cloud-based technologies.
- Prior experience in financial services, digital/fintech industry.
