An Associate role in the practice areas of banking & finance is available at an international law firm in Malaysia.
Our client, a forward-thinking law firm, is seeking an Associate to join their established banking & finance practice where the exposure focuses on syndicated and bilateral loans, project financing, and issuance of bonds and sukuk amongst others.

- Play a key role in the continued development and success of the firm’s practice in domestic and cross-border transactions (both conventional or Islamic financing)

What you'll do:
As an Associate, you will gain international and cross-border exposure in their legal career early on and given the opportunity to work with the firm’s local and international teams.
The primary responsibilities are:
- Handling and managing all range of legal work with regards to banking & finance related matters.
- Providing extensive consultation, client management and other support to the Partner, as and when required.
- Rendering legal advice and/or consultation to clients by conducting extensive research and keeping abreast with all relevant legislations and to take the lead in negotiations.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Associate position is someone driven, focused, independent, and dynamic.
You would possess the following:
- Admitted to the High Court of Malaya with 2 years of PQE with legal work experience in a banking & finance practice group at a top-tier law firm.
- Strong academic history.
- Experienced in handling syndicated and bilateral loans (both conventional and Islamic) advising on LIBOR transactions, familiar with APLMA documents and in negotiations in the context of financial institutions and other third parties.
- Articulate and has excellent communication skills.
- Flexible with mobility and willing to work on assignments in any of the firm's international offices.
- Self-starter, reliable and a strong team-player.
