One of the leading international financial institutions is looking for a high-calibre Legal Counsel. In this job, you will join their global transaction banking team based in Kuala Lumpur.

About the Legal Counsel Role:
Reporting to the Head, Global Banking Legal, you will be responsible in providing world-class functional banking legal services to the bank’s legal and corporate functions as well as be involved in interactions with all levels of management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Transaction Banking (TB) and Corporate Banking (CB) legal support timely, correct, and effective legal service pertaining to operational, business, product development, administrative, policy, planning and implementation matters
• Review and draft legal documentation for TB (trade instruments like bank guarantees and letters of credit, cash management agreements) and CB (corporate financing documents like letter of offer, term sheets, facility agreements, security documents)
• Provide accurate and timely legal advisory for TB and CB
• Provide legal advice, support and guidance to business units on various legal issues
• Monitor litigation cases involving TB
• Provide requisite legal support for relevant SP initiatives undertaken by TB

This successful candidate must be highly organised and independent, able to manage diverse stakeholders and work under pressure in a dynamic environment and with at least five to seven years of PQE.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of five to seven years of PQE with a law firm and/or in house counsel preferably with a financial institution with experience in the areas of TB and CB
• Sound knowledge of the law and good understanding of legal and regulatory framework relevant to banking and finance
• Able to bring pertinent legal developments to the attention of the relevant business units of TB and CB
