An exciting Senior General Counsel role has just become available at a leading financial services institution based in Malaysia.

About the Senior General Counsel Role:
In this business critical role, you will be responsible for managing and/or providing legal advice, support and services to senior management, business units and to the group company as well as in ensuring the continuous development and success of the legal team and the group company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing legal advice, oversight, review, and/or support for corporate exercises, mergers and acquisitions, investments, finance and treasury operations
• Rendering legal advice and guidance to senior management and business units to ensure the group’s legal interests are fully protected
• Preparing, reviewing and/or advising on various agreements/contracts
• Liaising with consultants/advisors of the company and managing due diligence process on legal matters as required as well as managing external counsels and ensuring timely delivery of legal services
• Representing the group and/or its subsidiaries in negotiations with external parties

To succeed in this Senior General Counsel role, you would need to be able to work independently, self-driven, level-headed and has a strong sense of responsibility.

Key requirements:

• Degree in Law and Certificate of Legal Practice (or equivalent qualification to practice law in Malaysia) from a reputable university with at least 10 to 15 years of relevant experience. Experience in financial services, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, and governance is an added advantage
• Ability to foster strong relationships and communicate effectively with all levels, from working level to senior management and strong command of both written and spoken English
• Organised, structured and strong in processes, strong team player and willing to share and develop others
