Legal Counsel

A leading technology/telecommunications company is searching for a high calibre candidate to take on a Legal Counsel job to support its rapidly growing business. Their office is located in Petaling Jaya.

About the Legal Counsel Role:
Reporting to the Principal Head, Legal, you will render all range of legal support, advice and opinion to various business divisions within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply your drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills in relation to commercial contracts, which includes marketing agreements, collaboration agreements, procurement agreements including but not limited to appointment of service providers or purchase of software licenses, telecommunications related agreements including but not limited to sourcing agreements and access agreements
• Manage post-contract related matters arising from collaboration, partnership, dealership, and/or procurement agreements including but not limited to extension of the contract duration, dispute with vendor amongst other ancillary matter
• Exposure in managing in project related exercise, including strategising and collaborating with relevant stakeholders
• Render sound and practical advice in ensuring the company’s interests are protected and are in compliant with relevant laws/legislations
• Handle and perform assigned duties and tasks with the ability to balance legal issues against commercial requirements

To succeed in this Legal Counsel role, you will need to have a positive and proactive mindset as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Requirements:

• LL.B degree with a minimum of six years’ experience post being called to the Malaysian Bar with at least three years in private practice with a leading law firm
• Candidates with background in corporate M&A, technology, procurement, cloud, big data, software licensing and/or telecommunications are encouraged to apply
• Strong drafting and communication skills with strong analytical ability and skills
• Strong ability to collaborate with colleagues, peers and business partners, passionate, driven, the ability to perform in a challenging and dynamic environment as well as a team player
