Senior Legal Counsel (Capital Markets/M&A)

A Senior Legal Counsel (Capital Markets/M&A) job has become available, responsible for delivering strategic advice and solutions, managing legal risks as well as drafting, reviewing and negotiating transactional documents in respect of the bank’s capital markets/M&A related matters.

About the Senior Legal Counsel (Capital Markets/M&A) Role:
Reporting to the Group General Counsel, Legal you are required to ensure that the business controls, governance, supervision of legal risks are working at optimum levels and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Render sound, effective and practical legal solutions and advice to stakeholders
• Draft, review and negotiate documents and agreements independently/with minimal supervision
• Provide legal support in the development of new products and offerings within Malaysia and other jurisdictions where the Bank is present
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel
• Identify issues and legal risks and provide proactive solutions
• Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the Bank’s operations

To succeed in this role, you should possess a minimum of eight years' experience, with solid work experience garnered from reputable law firms/financial institutions.

Key Requirements:

• Degree in law and a qualified advocate and solicitor
• Candidates who are well versed in capital markets/fund raising/corporate M&A/debt capital market transactions will be viewed favourably
• Problem solving and strategic in thinking with strong analytical skills
• Strong ability to identify legal risks, review and enhance documentation and processes
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about constant improvement and innovation
• Self-motivated individual with excellent organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
