Manager - Compliance

A reputable and established company is now looking for a high calibre candidate for a Manager - Compliance job to advise, strategise, and implement its compliance regime in support of its commercial vehicle import and distribution business arm. This Manager - Compliance role reports directly to the Chief of Business and is based in Selangor, Malaysia.

About the Manager - Compliance Role:
This Manager - Compliance role is responsible for the compliance regime of the company and is for someone who is able to undertake a sole contributor role within an established and fast-paced organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct risk assessments, gap analysis, and performance monitoring/reporting for the purposes of ensuring strong corporate governance and accountability
• Analysing, streamlining, designing, and implementing such compliance regime including third party screening and trade compliance as necessary across the business in the industry of import and distribution of commercial vehicles
• Rendering accurate and succinct advice to the top management, including the Chief of Business, the Group Finance as well as the CEO, in relation to all aspect of regulatory requirements applicable to the industry within which this business/company operates
• Advising, review, vet, and negotiate all agreements, instruments and transactions, including commercial, corporate and financing contracts as and when necessary, on behalf of the company
• Keeping the company abreast of such developments on the applicable laws, guidelines, and regulations, including preparing and conducting regular training in relation to legal and compliance matters for the company

To succeed in this Manager - Compliance role, you must have a balance of legal and compliance exposure with the view of placing greater focus on compliance and operational exposure and have the willingness to learn and gain an acute understanding of the operational needs of the company/business.

Key Requirements:

• Commonwealth qualified lawyer (admission to the Malaysian Bar would be highly regarded) with no less than five years of PQE, with a combination of private practice and in-house settings
• Experience in rendering advice in relation to anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, data privacy laws/regulations, as well as setting up or implementing policies and standards in an organisation within a commercial setting
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, resourceful and proactive
• Experience in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing of commercial agreements, particularly service/maintenance agreements, marketing agreements, master agreements, credit financing related contracts
• Analytical-minded, detail-oriented and possess strong communication skills
