Head of Legal

One of the world’s leading FMCG companies is currently seeking an experienced and high-calibre candidate for a Head of Legal job based in their dynamic Selangor office.

About the Head of Legal Role:
Reporting to the General Counsel and CFO, you will play a vital role in managing and/or handling all range of legal matters across SEA region and in ensuring the continuous success and development of the legal team and company’s performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Rendering legal advice and support to various business units within the company as well as on regulatory matters including but not limited to compliance with regulators and business transactions which include mergers acquisitions, cross border transactions and any related structural issues, etc.
• Preparing, drafting, reviewing, advising and/or negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements
• Managing and handling commercial disputes and litigation matters with global customers, vendors and/or employees, intellectual property matters and other legal matters
• Providing support and/or assistance pertaining to company policy and compliance, implementing, and reviewing policies, compliance programs and processes
• Keeping the stakeholders abreast on legal and regulatory changes impacting business

To succeed in this Head of Legal role, you will need at least 8 - 10 years' PQE and possesses the ability to work effectively and independently coupled with the following traits.

Key Requirements:

• LL.B with experience working in a law firm and/or in-house settings. Experience in FMCG, manufacturing and/or retail industries is viewed favourably
• Understanding of laws relating to IP, contracts, product declarations, advertising, competition law, consumer protection law, compliance related audits labour laws, etc.
• Experience in structuring, negotiating, drafting and/or reviewing contractual agreements as well as handling multi-jurisdictional matters is an added advantage
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to work effectively as part of a legal team, strong work ethics, good organisation skills and ability to multitask with strong sense of business acumen and processes
