An Assistant Manager, Legal job has just become available within a locally listed investment holding company with a strong presence within the O&G sector. This Assistant Manager, Legal role reports to the Senior Manager, Legal and is based in Kuala Lumpur.

About the Assistant Manager, Legal Role:
This Assistant Manager, Legal plays a key role in the legal team’s continued development and success by providing legal, regulatory, and compliance support to the group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing, vetting of contracts, tender documents, financing related agreements, arising from the day-to-day business and operations of the group including agency agreements, distributorship agreements, customer contracts, joint venture/shareholders agreements, MOUs, non-disclosure agreements, administration documents, industrial relations, insurance contracts
• Advising and managing all corporate/commercial transactions and exercises involving the group
• Reviewing and providing legal advice on all legal matters including tenders arising from the group’s business, advising on all intellectual property rights of the group, compliance on regulations and guidelines, and attending tender briefings, committee and board meetings. This includes advising the group and the board to maintain good corporate governance practices
• Managing such disputes (if any) under the group and regularly liaising with external legal counsel in relation to such matters
• Such other duties as assigned from time to time by the Senior Manager, Legal

To succeed in this Assistant Manager, Legal role, you will need strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and liaise across various levels of internal and external stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

• Admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with a minimum of five years of PQE, both in private legal practice and/or as in-house counsel. Candidates who are equipped with oil and gas/construction work experience will be viewed favourably
• Familiarity with handling corporate and commercial transactions including joint venture, M&As, project management
• Experienced in drafting and reviewing a variety of commercial contracts and tender/bidding documents, as well as reviewing cause papers for the purposes of litigation or alternative dispute resolution
• Ability to provide legal and commercial advice with international perspectives
• Strong interpersonal skills
