One of the region’s well-established insurance provider which provides a wide range of insurance products and services including personal automobile, home owner, property, general liability and reinsurance is currently seeking a high-calibre Head, Legal & Co Sec. In this job, you will join its dynamic office based in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.

About the Head, Legal & Co Sec Role:
Reporting to the Regional Legal Counsel (based in HKG), you will take the lead providing direction in all legal-related activities including the management of stakeholders’ expectations and rendering legal advice, guidance and support in assigned areas to ensure that the group’s exposure to legal risk is mitigated.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spearhead, direct and oversee the group’s legal and corporate secretarial strategy towards achieving the realisation of the group’s strategic initiatives and aspirations in becoming a leading regional insurance and takaful services provider
• Perform the functions of the Group Head of Corporate and Legal Services in managing its key departments and in line with the requirements of the organisation as well as overseeing the key legal and secretarial functions across the Southeast Asian region where the group has a presence under the group of companies
• Formulate and ensure effective execution of the legal strategy for the group with broad guidance from the senior management committee and board of directors
• Drive operational excellence across the legal and corporate secretarial function towards achieving the group’s strategy

To succeed in this role, you would need to have at least 15 years of work experience within the legal industry with practical experience (and preferably with responsibility over corporate secretaryship) with the last 5 - 10 years in a senior management position.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor of Laws
• Equipped with professional corporate secretarial qualifications (e.g. licensed by Companies Commission of Malaysia)/experience working in legal firms or acting as in-house lawyers within the insurance/financial institutions will be viewed favourably
• Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with the ability to understand multiple perspectives, identify and negotiate solutions across the organisation
• Able to render expert advice on corporate governance matters
