A well-established global services business is recruiting for a Compliance Specialist job. In this job, you will uphold a robust compliance framework that instils/champions a value of delivering with integrity, compliance process efficiencies, data/information transparency, and good governance.
About the Compliance Specialist Role:
Reporting to the business conduct and compliance function, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to standards of business conduct, underlying legal standards and in-house policies. You will introduce and coordinate compliance-based processes and digitisation initiatives aimed at effectiveness and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain country regulatory compliance risk profiles
- Engage with, and communicate to, all levels of the organisation (including but not limited to compliance and controls and internal audit teams) on updates to regulatory compliance developments, policies, standards, procedures, initiatives, risks, KPIs, etc. on matters related to Commercial Unit and Global Travel Retail (GTR)
- Support the GTR business and provide counsel on all compliance matters related to standards of business conduct such as Third-Party Risk Assessments (AML/CTF, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Tax Avoidance, Sanctions), Gifts and Entertainment, Contract Management and company structure deep dive analysis
- Coordinate quarterly and yearly sanctions screening and Standard of Business Conduct attestation activities across Commercial Units and GTR
- Ensure that Commercial Unit and GTR Policies and Standards are maintained, updated, visible and accessible to Commercial Unit employees and provide counsel on deviations to compliance policies and procedures
- Coordinate Legal Compliance training cycle plans and support Commercial Units and GTR in ensuring consistency in training content and modes of training – may include leading employee training sessions on legal and compliance issues
- Review and evaluate company procedures and reports to identify hidden risks or common issues
- Perform periodic testing and monitoring of regulatory compliance controls (adherence to policies and regulations) and recommend effective improvements
- Measure and monitor corrective actions or remediation plans
- Prepare reports/dashboards for senior management on regulatory compliance KPIs, risk and adherence to controls
- Act as a Super User for legal compliance systems, including being the second line of user support, assisting Commercial Units and GTR in developing and implementing systems changes and coordinating user acceptance testing
- Manage initiatives using project management methodologies (waterfall and agile)
- Coordinate across Commercial Units and GTR third party risk assessments for existing third party relationships, including re-certification of existing third party risk assessments
- Coordinate full adoption of the COUPA Risk Assess (third party risk assessment) and ICERTIS (Contract management) systems in Commercial Units and GTR
- Introduce/implement Policy Management System, including policy rationalisation
- Onboard New Zealand Market onto ICERTIS
- Be a core member of the global development and rollout of a compliance analytics initiative/project
- Coordinate implementation and rollout of a records management system across Commercial Units and GTR
- Assist Commercial Units in identifying and implementing an online training solution
To succeed in this Compliance Specialist role, you will need to have business engagement skills with sharp interview, investigation, and auditing skills and be good at project management/business analysis.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or related field with relevant work experience of between 5 - 10 years
- Certified compliance professional is a plus
- Project management or analysis certification is well regarded
- Skilled in analytical tools including database interrogating tools (e.g. SQL, MS Excel, others)
- Knowledge of regulations – such as Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing, Tax Evasion, Sanctions, Export Controls, Anti-Competitive Behaviour
- Have implemented/managed/worked in an environment with a compliance program, informed by a compliance framework
- Experience implementing/managing compliance controls in a highly digitised environment
- Experienced in using data analytics tools and analytical methods
- Managed/coordinated the introduction of new process and systems initiatives/projects – specifically delivering business requirements, conducting user acceptance testing, training, and documentation
- Ability to create and deliver training to small and large audiences
- Ability to lead cross-functional work teams, where these are constituted to implement globe/area compliance requirements and/or corrective action plans
- Communication and influencing skills, continuously improving partnership with key stakeholders
