Associate/Senior Legal Associate (Corporate M&A)

A boutique law firm which specialises in corporate M&A, private equity, venture capital is now seeking a Associate/Senior Legal Associate (Corporate M&A) to join their firm. In this job, you will be working in a team of outstanding legal associates and reporting to the supervising partner.

About the Associate/Senior Legal Associate (Corporate M&A) Role:
This role will play a critical role in the firm’s recent establishment and continued success as well as development in its office based in Kuala Lumpur.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing and preparing various corporate agreements/contracts as well as participating in direct negotiation of contracts and other commercial material agreements
• Handling and managing all range of legal work with regards to mergers, acquisitions, venture capital and private equity work, including cross-border acquisitions
• Providing extensive consultation, client management and other support to the partner, as and when required
• Rendering legal and corporate advice and/or consultation to clients by conducting extensive research and keeping abreast with all relevant legislations

To succeed in this role, you need to be self-assured, composed, and passionate about corporate M&A and venture capital work, with the ability to thrive under a highly demanding and fast-paced environment.

Key Requirements:

• Admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with excellent academic history, between three to seven years of PQE
• Experienced in corporate M&As, joint ventures and fundraising (particularly venture capital)
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong command in English language, be it written and/or verbal
• Able to thrive under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Ambitious and driven
• Supervisory experience with the ability to lead and train junior associates and a commercial/business mindset
