Legal Associate (Corporate/Commercial)

An international law firm with regional headquarters based in Kuala Lumpur is now recruiting for a Legal Associate (Corporate/Commercial) job due to significant expansion in its corporate/commercial division.

About the Legal Associate (Corporate/Commercial) Role:
This role is for a junior lawyer with an appetite for international and cross-border work exposure at an international law firm with opportunities for secondments to one of the firm’s international offices and to work with the firm’s local and international teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing, vetting, and preparing a broad range of corporate and commercial contracts
• Rendering legal opinions/advice to clients by conducting extensive legal research and keeping abreast with all relevant legislations and regulations
• Independently handling all range of corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and cross-border investments
• Liaising with clients, be it domestic or international clients including MNCs, with minimal supervision and proactively and regularly reporting to the Partner on the progress, process, and implementation on all matters
• Proactively and independently exploring opportunities for the purposes of expanding and maintaining business relations (domestically and internationally), and to actively participate and conduct webinars, training, podcasts, with the view of developing the firm’s brand and network

To succeed in this Legal Associate (Corporate/Commercial) role, you must be driven, dynamic, and willing to learn.

Key Requirements:

• Admitted to the High Court of Malaya
• One to two years of PQE in corporate and commercial practice, preferably with exposure to IT and procurement-related contracts
• Sound technical legal knowledge in corporate structures and corporate governance, commercial transactions, strong legal research skills, meticulous, detail-oriented, and thorough
• Excellent interpersonal skills and highly proficient in written and spoken English
• Flexible with mobility and willing to work in any of the firm’s international offices
• Readiness to learn and has a genuine interest in corporate, commercial, IT and procurement work
