Assistant Vice President, Legal

One of the reputable and well-established international banks is currently looking for a high-calibre candidate for an Assistant Vice President, Legal job based in their Kuala Lumpur office.

About the Assistant Vice President, Legal Role:
In this critical role, you will be responsible in managing all range of legal matters and providing guidance, advice, assistance, and support in all legal risk management and/or related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing, drafting, reviewing a wide range of contracts and agreements, letters, memorandum and/or legal documentation to ensure the bank’s interest is protected and/or updating legal risk management related policies/guidelines
• Drafting and reviewing standard loan and security documentations template and/or supporting, advising, and assisting in products/new products as well as business initiatives development
• Performing annual review of bank’s panel lawyers and liaising with external lawyers on legal proceedings and/or suits relating to the bank
• Conducting and/or managing reporting to senior management, board risk management committee, board of directors and parent bank
• Keeping abreast of the provision and changes in the statutory requirements, laws and regulations, and parent bank requirements as well as providing training on legal related matters
• Attending to court orders and/or law enforcement agency’s requests, assisting in general administrative works for compliance and assurance committee as well as performing any other functions as assigned by management from time to time

To succeed in this Assistant Vice President, Legal role, you will need to be able to work independently, effectively and have strong stakeholders’ management skills coupled with the following traits.

Key Requirements:

• LL.B holder with at least six years of relevant working experience
• Experience in the legal function of local or international financial institution is highly preferred and preferably attained relevant certification/professional standard
• Possesses understanding of the regulatory environment and expectations, interpretation of BNM policy documents and other relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines
• Ability to interact with people across all levels, self-motivated and possesses high degree of professionalism and integrity, thrives under pressure, and enjoys dynamic work environment
