Legal Associate (International Banking & Finance)

An exciting Legal Associate (International Banking & Finance) job has become available at an international law firm whose regional headquarters are based in Kuala Lumpur. Due to strong business growth and expansion plans, the firm is hiring a junior lawyer to work with both local and international clients on transactions involving non-Malaysian law.

About the Legal Associate (International Banking & Finance) Role:
This is a great opportunity for a junior lawyer with two years of PQEs looking to gain international and cross-border exposure in their legal career early on and he/she will be given the opportunity to work with the firm’s local and international teams and may have the opportunity for secondments to one of the firm’s international offices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handling and managing all range of legal work with regards to banking and finance related matters
• Providing extensive consultation, client management and other support to the Partner, as and when required
• Rendering legal advice and/or consultation to clients by conducting extensive research and keeping abreast with all relevant legislations and to take the lead in negotiations

To succeed in this role, the successful candidate would need to be driven, focused, independent, and dynamic.

Key Requirements:

• Admitted to the High Court of Malaya with two years of PQE with legal work experience in a banking and finance practice group at a top-tier law firm
• Strong academic history
• Experienced in handling syndicated and bilateral loans, both conventional and Islamic, advising on LIBOR transactions, and in negotiations in the context of financial institutions and other third parties.
• Articulate and has excellent communication skills.
• Flexible with mobility and willing to work on assignments in any of the firm's international offices.
• Self-starter, reliable and a strong team-player.
