Senior Manager, Legal

Due to ongoing and excellent success and developments, this leading insurance company is looking for a high-calibre and talented candidate to take on a Senior Manager, Legal job in their legal team based in their Kuala Lumpur office.

About the Senior Manager, Legal Role:
Reporting to the head of department, you will be responsible for managing and carrying out the whole spectrum of legal related services to ensure legal matters/issues which may raise a potential legal risk to the company are appropriately managed as well as ensuring continuity of good corporate governance in the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing accurate and comprehensive legal opinion in parallel to the risks of each legal issue and support to executives in a broad range of legal topics including but not limited to regulatory compliance, employment, risk management, contracts, liability and insurance, inter-departmental advisory services as well as applying effective risk management techniques and other proactive advice on possible legal issues
• Drafting, vetting and/or advising on various contracts/agreements and making available minimum standards for generic contracts throughout the company and solidifying agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights are protected
• Monitoring statutory/regulatory updates and sufficient implementation within departments of the company, and the company itself
• Ensure familiarity on the various aspects of products/documentation and the product implementation journey
• Rendering assistance/overseeing management of the legal department including the overall work and performance of the team members
• Attending meetings, engaging, consulting, negotiating and/or liaising with relevant stakeholders of the company (regulators, external advisers, contract parties, internal parties, etc.) on operational matters, claims matters, products related matters and projects as well as reviewing and executing periodic updates on panel solicitors
• Managing departmental operating budgets and costs according to annual allocation to ensure efficient usage of resources, where applicable, comprehensive bookkeeping duties on all legal/legal related documentation including managing and keeping up-to-date records of intellectual properties

To succeed in this Senior Manager, Legal role, you will need to be a team player with the ability to work independently, effectively and have the following traits and qualifications.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelors’ degree in Law or its equivalent and admitted to Malaysian Bar with at least 12 years of relevant legal experience (with at least 10 years of managerial experience). ICSA qualification will be viewed as an added advantage
• Familiarity in advising on compliance of the principles of law governing meetings, company law, regulations and procedures, disclosure requirements of local regulators, on insurance related legislation
• Excellent command of verbal and written English and drafting skills, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, able to work independently, possess a strong work ethic, meticulous, strong sense of responsibility, high degree of integrity and multitasking skills, good coordination, attention to details, analytical and problem-solving skills, high resilience, and agility in a fast-paced and changing environment, and ability to prioritise and deliver work within tight timelines
