Senior HR Manager, Employee Relations
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior HR Manager, Employee Relations to be based in Penang.
This role is perfect for someone who has direct experience leading an Employee Relations team and possesses a strong foundation of Malaysia labor-related laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have well-developed connections in the local labor relations scene and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. What you'll do:
As a Senior HR Manager, Employee Relations, you will be responsible for designing strategies that influence our organisational culture, ensuring it upholds our core values. You will lead a team of dedicated ER professionals, guiding them towards operational excellence. Your role will involve providing expert advice on the labour environment in Malaysia. You will also be tasked with promoting understanding of local labour laws and international labour standards within the organisation. Additionally, you will formulate strategies for labour union relations activities across the country. Your responsibilities will also include managing exit surveys and conducting strategic exit interviews.
- Design and direct Employee Relations strategies to influence organisational culture
- Develop partnerships with key stakeholders to support the success of ER programs
- Lead a team of ER professionals to pursue operations excellence through agile case management
- Guide sensitive employment activities to ensure success, compliance, and alignment with global standards
- Provide ER expertise regarding the labor environment in Malaysia
- Promote understanding of local labor laws and international labor standards within the organisation
- Formulate strategy for labor union relations activities in the country
- Manage exit surveys and conduct strategic exit interviews
What you bring:
As the ideal candidate for this Senior HR Manager, Employee Relations role, you bring a wealth of experience in Employee Relations, preferably from the manufacturing or technology sector. You have spent at least six years leading a team of ER professionals at a managerial level. Your understanding of Malaysian labour law is complemented by your familiarity with global labour standards. You have established connections within the labour and industrial relations departments in Penang. Your proven ability to conduct effective negotiations with union representatives is a testament to your strong interpersonal and communication skills. You are detail-oriented, able to make independent decisions, and maintain a high standard of compliance and quality.
- Minimum 12 years of work experience relevant to Employee Relations
- Minimum 6 years of leading a team of Employee Relations professionals at a managerial level
- Good understanding of Malaysian labor law and practices, as well as global labor standards
- Established connections with the labor and industrial relations department in Penang.
- Proven ability to conduct effective negotiations with union representatives
- Attention to detail, strong sense of urgency, independent decision making
