Our client is seeking a Senior Manager, Learning and Development to lead their team in Penang.

This role is pivotal in directing and implementing the organisation's learning and development strategy, ensuring skills development aligns with current and future needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design, develop, and evaluate training programs across various learning clusters. This role offers an exciting chance to stay abreast of industry developments, build relationships with universities and learning institutions, and support company initiatives such as dual vocational training and graduate employability programs.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Manager, Learning and Development, you will play a crucial role in shaping the skills development within the organisation. You will be responsible for directing the learning strategy, designing innovative training programs tailored to organisational needs, ensuring audit compliance of qualification management systems, identifying learning gaps within divisions, managing the Human Resource Development Fund, building relationships with external consultants, staying updated on industry developments, fostering collaborations with educational institutions, and supporting company initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving administrative improvements on bursary efficiency.

  • Direct the organisation's learning and development strategy
  • Design, develop, and evaluate training programs based on organisational needs
  • Ensure audit compliance of qualification management systems at all times
  • Support divisions on learning gaps identification for individuals or groups of employees
  • Oversee the companies Human Resource Development Fund
  • Select, manage ongoing relationships with external consultants and training providers
  • Stay updated on developments in training and education in industry and government sectors
  • Build relationships with universities, learning institutions for collaboration activities
  • Support company initiatives like dual vocational training and graduates employability programs

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Senior Manager, Learning and Development position brings a wealth of experience in similar roles. You possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably Human Resources. Your background includes proven experience as a Learning & Development Specialist or Training Manager. You have strong knowledge of effective learning methods including familiarity with e-learning platforms. Your excellent project management skills are complemented by proficiency in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS). Above all else, your strong communication and interpersonal skills set you apart.

  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field, preferably Human Resources
  • Proven experience as a Learning and Development Specialist or Training Manager
  • Strong knowledge of effective learning and development methods
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices
  • Excellent project management skills
