An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Human Resources to join a forward-thinking organisation in Kuala Lumpur, where you will have the unique chance to build the entire people function from the ground up.

What you'll do:

As Head of Human Resources, you will be entrusted with building the people function from its foundation—crafting everything from strategic direction to day-to-day operations.

  • Design and implement comprehensive human resources strategies that align closely with organisational growth objectives and long-term vision.
  • Develop scalable HR frameworks, policies, and processes that cover every aspect of the employee journey, from onboarding through to offboarding.
  • Establish foundational HR systems and tools such as HR information systems, performance management platforms, and payroll solutions to ensure operational excellence.
  • Create effective recruitment strategies aimed at attracting top talent efficiently while building a strong employer brand within the market.
  • Partner with hiring managers across departments to forecast workforce needs and introduce best-in-class hiring practices that enhance candidate experience.
  • Develop and roll out performance review frameworks, key performance indicators (KPIs), and feedback mechanisms that drive continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Champion initiatives designed to nurture a high-performance, values-driven culture where collaboration, trust, and open communication are prioritised.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on matters related to organisational development, team structure optimisation, and change management.
  • Design competitive compensation and benefits structures tailored to the needs of a dynamic startup environment while ensuring compliance with local labour laws.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and wellbeing programmes that promote retention, professional growth, and overall satisfaction throughout the organisation.

What you bring:

To excel as Head of Human Resources in this organisation, your background should reflect significant experience in building HR functions within fast-growing companies or startups.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related discipline is required for this position.
  • At least seven years of progressive experience in human resources roles with exposure to startup or fast-scaling environments highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in setting up HR processes, policies, and systems from scratch within rapidly evolving organisations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local labour laws combined with up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices relevant to Malaysia.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate effectively across all levels of the business while acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Outstanding communication abilities allowing you to foster open dialogue between employees and leadership teams alike.
  • A proven track record in developing recruitment strategies that attract high-calibre talent while enhancing employer branding efforts.
  • Experience designing performance management frameworks including KPIs, feedback systems, and recognition programmes tailored for diverse teams.
  • Expertise in creating competitive compensation packages suited for startups alongside managing payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • A passion for nurturing positive workplace cultures through employee engagement initiatives focused on wellbeing, learning opportunities, and retention.
