Team Lead (Pharmaceutical, Sabah)

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmaceutical Sales Team Leader to join a respected organisation in Sabah, where your passion for nurturing talent and driving results will be highly valued. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on supporting others, sharing knowledge, and building strong connections both within the team and with key customers.

What you'll do:

As a Pharmaceutical Sales Team Leader based in Sabah, you will be instrumental in fostering a high-performing team environment where collaboration and mutual support are at the forefront. Your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around mentoring Sales Executives through direct field engagement, providing constructive feedback on their progress, and ensuring they have access to ongoing training opportunities. You will also play an active role in territory management by identifying new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders. By monitoring sales targets closely and offering guidance on performance improvement strategies, you will help ensure both individual and collective success. Your ability to communicate expectations clearly while maintaining accurate administrative records will be essential in creating an organised yet dynamic workplace where everyone feels empowered to contribute.

  • Provide hands-on coaching in the field to enhance team members’ Professional Selling Skills and product knowledge through regular joint visits and tailored support.
  • Deliver comprehensive written appraisals on each team member’s performance at set intervals in partnership with the National Sales Manager.
  • Recognise and reinforce positive practices within the team while motivating individuals to achieve their best potential.
  • Organise and conduct training sessions on selling skills, product knowledge, or other relevant topics to foster continuous improvement.
  • Attend and actively participate in sales meetings, national sales conferences, trade shows, and weekend work as required to stay connected with broader business objectives.
  • Consult regularly with the National Sales Manager regarding the development of sales representatives by discussing techniques, processes, standards, and guidelines.
  • Ensure diligent use of Sales Force Automation tools by all team members for effective planning, call updates, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Identify and develop relationships with key customers across all market segments while supporting team members in building rapport with decision makers.
  • Implement promotional activities aligned with strategic goals to reduce goods return rates and minimise SKU delisting from customer accounts.
  • Monitor sales and marketing activities involving team members while submitting monthly plans for field visits based on area needs.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Pharmaceutical Sales Team Leader position brings a wealth of experience from within pharmaceutical or healthcare sales environments along with a genuine enthusiasm for helping others grow professionally. Your background should include previous exposure to people management responsibilities—whether through formal leadership roles or informal mentoring—and you should feel comfortable providing both positive reinforcement and constructive feedback. Strong organisational skills are essential as you balance fieldwork with administrative duties such as reporting expenses or attendance. Your natural ability to connect with others will allow you not only to build lasting customer relationships but also foster trust among your team members. A willingness to share knowledge openly while remaining receptive to new ideas ensures that you continue learning alongside those you support.

  • Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical sales or a related healthcare sector with proven people management capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to coach, motivate, and inspire team members towards achieving shared objectives.
  • Excellent written communication abilities for preparing detailed appraisals and performance reports at regular intervals.
  • A collaborative approach to problem-solving that involves consulting with managers and colleagues to optimise outcomes for the whole team.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools such as Sales Force Automation systems for planning calls, updating notes, and tracking progress accurately.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with key customers across diverse market segments while supporting others in doing the same.
  • Experience organising or participating in training sessions focused on selling skills or product knowledge enhancement.
  • Keen attention to detail when monitoring stock usage, preparing samples or gift packs for promotions or conferences, and managing administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Commitment to upholding company values by modelling ethical behaviour and encouraging others to do likewise within the team environment.

What sets this company apart:

This organisation stands out for its unwavering commitment to employee development within an inclusive culture that prioritises teamwork over competition. Employees benefit from structured training programmes designed to enhance both technical expertise and soft skills—ensuring everyone has access to resources needed for personal growth. The company’s collaborative ethos extends beyond internal teams; staff are encouraged to engage directly with customers at every level of the business through regular fieldwork, trade shows, conferences, and community events. Open communication channels mean your voice is heard when it comes to shaping strategy or suggesting improvements. With clear pathways for progression based on merit rather than tenure alone—and recognition given generously for achievements—this is an environment where dedication truly pays off. Flexible working arrangements further support work-life balance so you can thrive both personally and professionally.
