An exciting Visual Merchandiser, AM (Retail) job has just become available at one of the most respected global fashion brands based in Malaysia. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a role for a Visual Merchandiser who is a leader in their field.

About the Visual Merchandiser, AM (Retail) Role:
In this business critical role you will be responsible for both VM and store project planning for Malaysia. Under the VM responsibilities, you will lead a team that will drive VM strategies from window to in-store across all retail stores, according to brand and aesthetic standard and in line with company strategic goals and commercial objectives. Under store planning, you will need to manage the planning and designs of Malaysia stores from site survey through opening and project close out within budget and open stores in time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organise the creative display of products in accordance with corporate guidelines
  • Introduce the new collections and new strategies of the implementation of the product
  • Partner closely with retail operations team on effective product presentation and communication within the stores to optimise commercial results
  • Coach, train and develop all retail associates, VM Ambassadors and VM in all aspects of merchandising, mannequins styling, in-store display and window/floor presentation
  • Plan in-store and window schemes working with VM teams and implementing all visual merchandising seasonal rollout across Malaysia
  • Coordinate with marketing to plan and programme seasonal campaign calendar
  • Manage and monitor VM budget and expenses
  • Manage VM database for display props development
  • Prepare the brand’s design brief in collaboration with different functions on display capacity, product zoning, layouts, local adaptation on specific needs on the store design and furniture
  • Prepare and submit design brief package information to Regional Store Planning and Development (SP&D) team with site survey reports, photo reports, technical restrictions/constraints, and tenancy design guide highlights
  • Review store concept designs from appointment designers. Validate the drawing plan to ensure design aligned with design brief and budget cost plan
  • Partner with regional SP&D and local consultants on all details with finishes, furniture and M&E
  • Coordinate with appointed contractor with authority submission, landlord submission on detailed shop drawings
  • Track and report on project status and take appropriate actions to ensure project progress is on schedule
  • Work closely with Regional SP&D team, local team and contractors on timely project handover
  • Manage cost planning, budgeting, programming and scheduling of store development

To succeed in this Visual Merchandiser, AM (Retail) role, you will need to have the ability to work effectively and co-operatively with senior business development teams, across borders and internal matrix.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience and Education: University graduate or equivalent in Visual Merchandising Design/Design/Graphic Design, Fashion Retail, or at least eight years of VM experience or equivalent
  • Managed a team for at least four years
  • Clear understanding of local and global fashion trends, VM competitors and inspirational references
  • Strong sense of styling and colours, outfit coordination, floor merchandising, fashion and trends
  • Detail-minded, independent and presentable; able to prioritise job tasks on a tight timeline and organised manner
  • Good verbal and written communication in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Platform (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design) or other graphic design software
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
