A rapidly growing international chemical manufacturing company is recruiting for an R&D Chemist (Intumescent/Fire Protection) to improve the processing of fire protection product formulation in the factory and increase competence in the laboratory, QC and manufacturing with respect to smooth transfer of products from laboratory to production. This position reports to the Regional Senior R&D Chemist/Category Manager.
About the R&D Chemist (Intumescent/Fire Protection) Role: In this R&D Chemist role, you will be expected to develop new products and improve existing ones by searching, identifying and applying the most appropriate technology and formulation techniques to achieve the desired results within the desired time frame to secure the targeted commercial advantages.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute development and maintenance tasks involving recipe and raw material planning, testing, and evaluation, aligning with the R&D plan and under the guidance of the Manager/Senior Chemist
Communicate findings and results through both oral and written reports, contributing to informed decision-making
Continuously acquire knowledge from literature, practical experience, peer learning, and courses to tackle complex R&D tasks more independently
Assume responsibility for recipe management of assigned products, ensuring product quality aligns with market and environmental requirements
Actively engage in project work and project groups, providing professional insights
Adhere to safety protocols, including safety equipment usage and comprehension of safety data sheets
Maintain a tidy, secure, and organised laboratory environment
If overseeing an R&D Assistant and/or R&D Technician, lead, coach, and guide them in accordance with Leadership Expectations to promote competence, engagement, and empowerment within the team
To succeed in the R&D Chemist (Intumescent/Fire Protection) role, you will need to have a minimum of four years of experience in R&D planning and new product development for metal coating solutions.
Key Requirements:
Minimum of four years' working experience in research and development (Preferably from a metal coatings and chemical industry)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Possess great process and technical service experience
Fluency in oral and written English is essential
