What you'll do:
As a Sr. Lean Engineer, you will be entrusted with advancing operational excellence by integrating lean manufacturing techniques throughout the production environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with various departments to implement process improvements that balance efficiency with safety and sustainability. You will analyse workflows, design optimal material flows for incoming goods through to finished products, lead automation projects, and champion cost-saving measures. Your ability to conduct detailed feasibility studies will inform decisions on manpower allocation, workflow balancing, and capacity utilisation. By engaging with suppliers alongside buyers during procurement activities, you will ensure that all resources align with lean objectives. Additionally, your role includes contributing to budget planning cycles while upholding rigorous compliance with QMS, EMS, and OHS standards. Supporting other sites when required further broadens your impact within the organisation’s global network.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kanban, Heijunka, Just-In-Time (JIT), Jidoka, Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), and Pull Systems to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and executing targeted improvement activities that deliver measurable results.
- Drive automation projects from conception through implementation, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows while maintaining worker safety and environmental standards.
- Design and continuously improve the material flow of incoming goods, work-in-progress inventory, and finished products to maximise throughput and minimise waste.
- Optimise facility space by conducting thorough reviews of current layouts and initiating space-saving activities that support operational goals.
- Conduct feasibility studies on line performance, manpower utilisation, workflow balancing, and capacity utilisation to identify areas for enhancement.
- Collaborate with suppliers and buyers during procurement processes to ensure timely acquisition of materials and equipment necessary for lean initiatives.
- Participate in quarterly and annual budget planning as well as capital expenditure forecasting to align resources with strategic objectives.
- Ensure strict adherence to Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements at all times.
- Provide support to other plants within the organisation as needed, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
