What you'll do:

As a Circuit Design Engineer based in Penang, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of test and measurement hardware. Your day-to-day activities will involve researching innovative component alternatives for legacy products, implementing robust designs using industry-standard CAD tools, validating hardware through detailed testing protocols, and applying advanced failure analysis methods. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to integrate valuable feedback into your designs, ensuring high-quality outcomes. By developing proof-of-concept models and documenting every stage of the project lifecycle, you will provide clarity for stakeholders while driving continuous improvement. • Research alternative electronic components and propose effective solutions that minimise major software or product calibration changes, ensuring seamless replacement of end-of-life parts in existing products.
• Implement new designs using CAD and synthesis tools such as Mentor Graphics, conducting thorough simulations to validate performance before production.
• Verify and validate hardware redesigns by performing rigorous testing procedures, identifying issues early in the verification and manufacturing stages.
• Apply failure analysis techniques to determine root causes during initial validation and manufacturing builds, utilising fishbone diagrams to systematically narrow down potential issues.
• Integrate design-for-manufacturing (DFM) feedback from manufacturing teams into product designs to enhance yield and overall quality.
• Develop mock-up designs as proof of concept to strengthen redesign proposals and secure final approval from domain leaders.
• Document project progress meticulously, including failures and solutions, sharing both short-term fixes and long-term strategies with stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers by sharing technical expertise, providing guidance on best practices, and supporting their professional development within the team.
• Lead efforts in creating comprehensive product documentation and design records that facilitate smooth product releases and future reference.
• Design debug tools and develop training materials for manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches.

What you bring:

To excel as a Circuit Design Engineer in this organisation’s Penang office, you will bring hands-on experience in both analog and digital circuit design at the board level. Your educational background should include an engineering degree focused on electrical or computer disciplines. You are comfortable navigating complex design environments involving high-speed interfaces such as CPUs or micro-controllers. Your familiarity with industry-standard lab equipment enables you to conduct thorough testing throughout the development cycle. Experience with test automation tools allows you to streamline validation processes efficiently. You possess strong analytical abilities for diagnosing technical challenges quickly while remaining adaptable amid evolving requirements. • Minimum two years’ experience in analog or digital circuit design with proven expertise at board level or VHDL/System Verilog.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated proficiency in HDL IP design or board-level digital circuit design for complex systems.
• Experience defining routing constraints for high-speed interfaces such as CPU/SoC/Micro-controller integration.
• Skilled in using standard hardware laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, signal generators, and power supplies for testing purposes.
• Proficiency in test automation using scripting or programming languages relevant to hardware validation processes.
• Ability to apply diagnostic insight for identifying technical problems, proposing viable options, and implementing effective solutions efficiently.
• Quick learner who adapts rapidly to new technologies, systems, products, and changing circumstances within the engineering landscape.
• Commitment to working dependably within a team-oriented development environment that values open communication and shared goals.
