A leading global manufacturing and production of advanced micro-acoustic solutions is seeking a Senior Acoustic Engineer to join their team in Bayan Lepas

This is an exceptional opportunity for you to contribute to the development of cutting-edge microphone systems and specialty audio components that impact industries such as medical technology, consumer electronics, aerospace, and more. You will be part of a knowledgeable and supportive engineering team, collaborating on innovative projects from concept through to mass production. The organisation offers flexible working opportunities, ongoing training, and a culture that values inclusivity and growth leadership. If you are passionate about electro-acoustic design and eager to work with state-of-the-art technologies in a collaborative environment, this role will provide you with the platform to make a significant impact while advancing your career.

  • Work alongside a highly skilled team of engineers on pioneering micro-acoustic solutions for diverse applications including medical devices, consumer electronics, and industrial systems.
  • Enjoy flexible working arrangements and continuous professional development within an inclusive environment that encourages knowledge sharing and teamwork.
  • Be empowered to innovate and shape new product designs, contributing directly to the advancement of next-generation audio technologies.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Acoustic Engineer based in Bayan Lepas, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of micro-acoustic technology by driving the design and development of advanced microphone systems. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with other engineers across multiple business units as you take concepts from initial proof-of-concept through prototyping stages all the way to mass production. You will be responsible for creating bespoke acoustic fixtures that meet stringent customer requirements while developing robust test solutions for prototypes. By leading validation testing efforts and analysing verification data, you will ensure every product meets high standards of quality. Your expertise will be crucial in performing failure analyses, guiding technicians during lab evaluations, and supporting application engineering teams with complex technical escalations. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also a commitment to teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

  • Design and develop sophisticated microphone systems utilising MEMS, ASICs, and PCBs tailored to customer requirements.
  • Engage actively in all phases of product development, from proof-of-concept and prototyping through to mass production.
  • Create acoustic fixtures based on detailed customer specifications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Develop and debug comprehensive test solutions for microphone prototypes, addressing technical challenges as they arise.
  • Lead validation testing planning and execution for MEMS microphones, ensuring rigorous standards are met throughout the process.
  • Define and analyse design verification results to confirm products meet or exceed internal specifications and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to identify opportunities for innovation or iteration in new product designs.
  • Construct circuit models using lumped parameter and finite element analysis tools to select the best components for each project.
  • Perform failure analysis on microphone prototypes, providing actionable insights for design improvements.
  • Guide technicians during lab testing and characterisation of microphones and ASICs, fostering a supportive learning environment.

What you bring:

To excel as a Senior Acoustic Engineer in this forward-thinking organisation, your background should include substantial hands-on experience developing electro-mechanical or electro-acoustic products—ideally within sectors such as hearing aids or specialty audio devices. Your technical toolkit should encompass proficiency with electronic system design and debugging using industry-standard lab equipment. Experience with automated test platforms like LabVIEW will enhance your effectiveness when developing robust prototype evaluation methods. A strong grasp of acoustic theory—including lumped element modelling—and familiarity with advanced simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics or Ansys will enable you to optimise component selection for each project. Your ability to conduct thorough lab measurements using sophisticated analysers ensures that every design meets exacting standards. Collaboration is key: your interpersonal skills will help foster productive relationships across remote engineering teams while your clear communication style supports knowledge sharing throughout the organisation. Your commitment to continuous learning will allow you to thrive in an environment where training opportunities abound.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Acoustics or Physics; Master’s or Doctorate preferred for deeper subject matter expertise.
  • Minimum seven years’ experience developing electro-mechanical or electro-acoustic products within relevant industries such as hearing aids or audio technology.
  • Proven ability designing, building, and debugging electronic systems using digital oscilloscopes, power supplies, parameter analysers, data acquisition tools, and other standard electrical lab equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting lab tests on circuits while collaborating effectively with design teams across functions.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments LabVIEW software is advantageous for developing automated test solutions.
  • Solid understanding of acoustic concepts including lumped element equivalent circuits for transducers; experience with FEA software like COMSOL Multiphysics or Ansys is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of analog/digital audio systems including microphones (MEMS/ASIC), speakers, audio formats, and signal chains used in modern consumer electronics is desirable.
  • Experience with lumped parameter modelling using SPICE, Modelica or similar software platforms is preferred for accurate simulation work.
  • Skilled at making precise lab measurements in both frequency and time domains using spectrum analysers, audio analysers, oscilloscopes etc., ensuring reliable data collection.
  • Track record of working collaboratively within cross-functional remote engineering teams; excellent spoken and written English communication skills are essential.
