What you'll do:
As a Manufacturing Engineer based in Bayan Lepas, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence across the entire production lifecycle. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve interpreting intricate technical drawings, developing innovative tools and processes tailored to specific product requirements, and facilitating smooth product transfers between global sites. You will collaborate extensively with various departments to optimise workflows, troubleshoot issues on the shop floor, and uphold rigorous safety and quality standards. By mentoring technicians and managing essential documentation, you will ensure that every aspect of manufacturing is prepared for success. - Read and interpret complex technical drawings to ensure accurate production specifications are met for a wide variety of manufactured products.
- Analyse drawing specifications thoroughly and develop essential tools, processes, and parameters that support efficient production operations.
- Plan and execute seamless product transfers from other interplant manufacturing sites into local production facilities, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
- Develop and validate robust processes, tooling solutions, and comprehensive documentation for transferred products to guarantee manufacturing readiness.
- Drive process optimisation initiatives aimed at reducing costs while maintaining high standards of quality throughout all stages of production.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and procurement to ensure smooth integration of new processes and transferred products.
- Conduct detailed root cause analysis for any quality or yield issues encountered during production and implement effective corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols, quality benchmarks, and regulatory standards across all manufacturing activities.
- Mentor technicians by providing clear technical guidance and sharing best practices to enhance team performance on the shop floor.
- Manage critical documentation such as bill of materials certification and technical drawing reviews to maintain readiness for manufacturing operations.
What you bring:
To excel as a Manufacturing Engineer in this organisation’s Bayan Lepas facility, you will bring extensive hands-on experience from similar roles within the manufacturing sector. Your background should include deep familiarity with product transfer projects as well as process validation techniques relevant to motor or electromechanical assemblies. - Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is required; equivalent years of experience may also be considered for this position.
- At least seven years’ proven experience working within a manufacturing environment where you have demonstrated reliability in handling complex engineering tasks.
- Hands-on experience managing product transfer projects as well as validating processes—ideally within motor or electro-mechanical component assembly environments.
- Proficiency in line setup procedures, equipment readiness assessments, and bill of materials configuration using ERP systems is highly desirable.
- Additional skills such as programming knowledge, instrumentation expertise, or electric/motor testing experience would be advantageous for this role.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings accurately; proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) is essential.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting abilities using standard shop floor inspection equipment like calipers, micrometers, indicator gauges; CAD drafting skills are also beneficial.
- Familiarity with standard machining processes including milling, turning, grinding ensures versatility in addressing production needs effectively.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office applications for documentation management and communication purposes is expected.
