What you'll do:
As Production Manager, you will be entrusted with the day-to-day oversight of manufacturing operations in Penang. Your focus will be on creating an environment where safety is paramount, quality is never compromised, and productivity flourishes through teamwork. You will work hand-in-hand with your team to ensure that every aspect of production runs smoothly—from scheduling to delivery—while also identifying areas for process optimisation. - Oversee all aspects of safety, quality, and productivity within your area of responsibility, ensuring full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and support the production team—including operators, machinists, supervisors, and leaders—by focusing on performance management, skills development, competency enhancement, and effective resource allocation.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity enhancements, and cost reduction strategies to drive operational efficiency.
- Ensure that all manufacturing cells consistently meet or exceed production objectives at the lowest possible cost while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards.
- Coordinate production schedules and delivery dates to ensure timely fulfilment of customer requirements while providing comprehensive employee training programmes.
- Monitor and manage manufacturing cell performance metrics to achieve set targets for volume, cost control, and product quality.
- Develop and implement new projects aimed at enhancing current and future manufacturing cell capabilities in line with organisational goals.
- Maintain rigorous compliance with all safety protocols and environmental regulations to create a secure workplace for all staff members.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager to oversee daily operational activities and resolve any issues that may arise promptly.
- Foster an inclusive team culture by guiding, coaching, and motivating subordinates towards achieving higher levels of competence and engagement.
What you bring:
To excel as Production Manager, you will bring substantial hands-on experience from machining or manufacturing settings—ideally within regulated industries like medical devices. - A bachelor’s degree with at least five years’ relevant experience or a diploma with more than ten years’ experience in the field is required for this role.
- Extensive background in CNC machining operations—such as milling, turn-mill, autolathe or wire-cut—is essential for success in this position.
- Previous exposure to the medical device industry is highly desirable as it provides valuable context for regulatory compliance and best practices.
- Demonstrated people management abilities including staff development, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation are necessary for building strong teams.
- Excellent communication skills are vital for fostering collaboration across departments and ensuring clear direction is provided at all times.
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in machining/manufacturing environments coupled with at least five years in management roles is expected.
- Proficiency in LEAN manufacturing principles will be considered an added advantage when implementing process improvements.
- Strong project management skills are needed to coordinate multiple initiatives concurrently while adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
