As a Plant Engineer, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and productivity, while collaborating with various departments to drive process improvements and uphold regulatory requirements. The organisation values teamwork, knowledge sharing, and personal growth, providing an environment where your technical expertise and interpersonal skills will be nurtured through ongoing training opportunities and supportive leadership. If you are looking for a position that combines hands-on engineering responsibilities with the chance to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, this is an excellent opportunity to advance your career in a collaborative and inclusive setting.

  • Join a knowledgeable and supportive team committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence within a modern manufacturing facility.
  • Benefit from flexible working opportunities and access to ongoing training programmes designed to enhance your technical skills and support your professional development.
  • Work in an inclusive environment where your dependability, collaborative spirit, and commitment to continuous improvement are valued and recognised.

What you'll do:

As a Plant Engineer based in Penang, you will be entrusted with overseeing the daily operations of a sophisticated manufacturing unit. Your role will involve fostering a culture of safety throughout the facility by championing best practices in accident prevention and regulatory compliance. You will serve as a vital link between the plant and local authorities, ensuring all legal requirements are met without compromise. In addition to managing routine operations, you will take charge during emergencies or breakdowns—providing swift technical solutions that keep production running smoothly. Your analytical approach will help optimise maintenance schedules while your collaborative nature will see you working alongside cross-functional teams to maintain mechanical integrity. By participating in performance appraisals and recommending targeted training programmes, you will help nurture talent within the team. Your day-to-day activities will also include evaluating production processes, preparing comprehensive reports on plant activities, inspecting machinery for optimal performance, reviewing standard operating procedures for potential improvements, troubleshooting operational issues as they arise, assisting with facilities maintenance meetings, and providing valuable feedback on upcoming capital projects. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills that enable you to connect with colleagues at all levels.

  • Manage a safe working environment that consistently achieves the target of zero accidents by implementing robust safety control programmes and conducting regular audits.
  • Ensure full compliance with all state and federal regulations by liaising effectively with local authorities such as BOMBA, DOSH, DOE, and other relevant agencies.
  • Deputise for the Plant Manager when required, taking on responsibility for key operational decisions and supporting overall plant management.
  • Drive continuous improvement of work methods by analysing maintenance data to reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) and increase mean time before failure (MTBF).
  • Respond promptly to emergency unplanned breakdowns, recognising that site responsibility is a 24/7 commitment and being prepared for call-outs at any time.
  • Provide technical solutions related to breakdown issues within your area of responsibility, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Analyse critical spare parts inventory and manage stock control processes to ensure availability of essential components for maintenance activities.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate process improvement initiatives as well as maintenance of equipment and machinery in accordance with engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Administer technical maintenance issues efficiently while organising performance appraisals and recommending appropriate training programmes for team members.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity across all plant programmes, evaluating production activities, preparing detailed reports, inspecting equipment, reviewing logs, troubleshooting plant activities, and supporting facilities maintenance meetings.
