This role is based in Penang, Malaysia and will be instrumental in supporting the commercialisation of their innovative 3D Silicon™ Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery. What you'll do:
As a Cell Characterization Lab Engineer, your primary focus will be on material and performance characterization of our cells. You will drive failure analysis, materials characterization, safety certification, and reliability testing of our products. Your responsibilities will also include interpreting and summarizing test results. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our commitment to safety and quality by ensuring that all procedures are followed accurately.
- Operate and maintain equipment, ensuring proper calibration and performance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to execute product reliability, safety, cell characterization and failure analysis activities.
- Understand test intent and define analysis approach.
- Coordinate activities with technicians, engineers, and external resources to drive test requests to closure.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures in compliance with 6S Housekeeping.
- Review results for accuracy and compliance to procedure or test specifications.
- Interpret and summarize results.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Cell Characterization Lab Engineer position will bring a strong background in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering or Material Science. With at least 2 years of industry experience under your belt, you are well-versed in using leading-edge battery or semiconductor technology material characterization techniques. Your ability to troubleshoot issues with testing and creatively resolve unforeseen problems will be invaluable in this role. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as you'll be working within a matrix environment alongside various levels within the organisation.
- Masters or PhD degree in technical field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering).
- 2+ years of industry experience.
- Experience with using leading-edge battery and/or semiconductor technology material characterization techniques.
- Experience working with cell and battery technology strongly preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with testing and creatively resolve unforeseen problems.
- Able to effectively work in a matrix environment and interface productively with counterparts at all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills, high attention to detail.
