Project Manager – Retail Store Development

Are you ready to lead impactful projects in the dynamic world of retail store development? We’re seeking a Project Manager based in Malaysia to oversee the creation and transformation of retail spaces across the country.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional retail store development projects. Your responsibilities include:

Project Delivery & Execution

• Manage full project lifecycles from planning to completion and handover.
• Develop and enforce project timelines, ensuring quality standards are upheld.
• Identify risks proactively and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
• Serve as the central point of contact for internal teams (Operations, Design, Finance, Marketing, IT) and external partners (landlords, contractors, authorities).
• Ensure seamless communication and alignment across all parties throughout the project lifecycle.

Budget & Cost Management

• Prepare and oversee CAPEX budgets with meticulous cost control.
• Monitor expenditures and ensure projects stay within approved budgets.
• Review quotations, variation orders, and invoices for accuracy and value.
• Support tender processes, including bid evaluations and contractor selection.
• Ensure materials meet technical, regulatory, and brand standards.

Design & Technical Oversight

• Collaborate with designers to adapt store concepts to local requirements.
• Review layouts for practicality, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate submissions and approvals with landlords and authorities.
• Oversee store readiness for opening day alongside cross-functional teams.
• Lead inspections, defect rectifications (snagging), and project handovers.
• Manage warranty follow-ups post-opening while identifying improvement opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for an experienced professional who thrives in a challenging yet rewarding environment. The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
• 8–10 years of proven experience managing fit-out or construction projects in retail or similar industries within Malaysia.
• Expertise in construction methods, M&E systems, local authority approvals, and landlord requirements.
• Strong budgeting skills with CAPEX management experience and BoQ review capabilities.

Soft skills such as excellent communication abilities, stakeholder management expertise, problem-solving acumen, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
