What you'll do:
As a Health and Safety Engineer based in Selangor, you will play an essential role in safeguarding the wellbeing of employees while ensuring that all aspects of factory operations align with stringent EHS standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve preparing comprehensive plans for new projects, reviewing technical documents, managing regulatory applications, supervising contractors on site, facilitating inspections with government bodies, and overseeing ongoing safety operations post-construction. - Ensure full compliance with local Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations as well as company standards throughout the factory’s operations.
- Prepare detailed implementation plans and technical bidding documents for EHS-related projects, evaluating proposals and collaborating with tender teams to meet regulatory requirements.
- Participate actively in reviewing design schemes and construction drawings, identifying technical issues promptly and coordinating their resolution among relevant parties.
- Organise and manage applications for safety pre-evaluation, design documentation, and other necessary procedures required for construction projects within the plant.
- Review contractor qualifications along with safety and environmental technical agreements, supervising on-site activities to ensure adherence to approved plans.
- Facilitate effective communication between internal departments, external stakeholders, and government authorities during inspections and project execution phases.
- Oversee daily safety management and environmental protection operations once the plant transitions into its operational phase after construction completion.
- Promote a strong culture of safety and environmental awareness among employees by organising training sessions, campaigns, and regular communications.
- Complete additional tasks assigned by superiors with diligence, maintaining high standards of professionalism at all times.

- Bachelor’s degree or above in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Protection, Fire Protection or related fields is required
- A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing or related industries is essential; prior involvement in greenfield factory projects is highly advantageous for understanding complex start-up environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of Malaysia’s local safety laws (including MS1722), environmental regulations, and international standards is vital for effective compliance management.
- Demonstrated competence in risk assessment methodologies, accident investigation processes, environmental monitoring techniques, and data analysis tools ensures thorough oversight of EHS matters.
- Holding BOMBA-certified Fire Emergency Commander qualification is considered beneficial for emergency preparedness within the facility.
- Proficiency in MyEHS system is required for efficient tracking of safety metrics; monthly completion of DOSH online regulatory training is expected as part of ongoing professional development.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint are necessary; ability to read construction CAD drawings plus basic operation of AutoCAD supports technical review duties.
- Must possess DOSH-certified Safety Officer qualification as a legal requirement; holders of international certifications such as ISO 14001 are preferred for their global perspective on EHS management.
