PLC Support Engineer

What you'll do:

As a PLC Support Engineer, your role will be pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of our client's automated material handling equipment. You will be responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and repairing the interface between Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Material Flow Systems (MFS). Your excellent problem-solving skills will be put to use as you assist in identifying the root cause of faults and production errors. You will also have the opportunity to train both internal and external customers, increasing their system knowledge and helping to prevent future issues.

• Program, troubleshoot and repair interface between Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Material Flow System (MFS)
• Attend and participate in customer and internal meetings
• Program, troubleshoot and repair sensors, scanners, visualization systems, motors, frequency inverters and encoders
• Assist in identifying root cause of faults and production errors
• Work with Onsite staff and software developers to ensure maximum system uptime
• Analyze System daily operation reports to track and identify opportunities for continued improvement
• Design test scenarios to identify system issues
• Train internal and external customers to increase system knowledge, resolve issues and prevent issues from recurring
• Update help-desk ticketing system to track, monitor and resolve issues
• Create documentation and training materials for system users and system service & maintenance

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the PLC Support Engineer position brings a wealth of experience in engineering along with specific knowledge in PLCs such as -net or Siemens S7. Your familiarity with automation technology will be crucial as you work with conveyors, automated cranes, packaging technology among others. Knowledge of bus systems like Ethernet, ASI, Profibus is highly desirable. Experience with AUTOCAD or E-Plan would be a significant advantage.

• 4-year degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work
• 1+ year of experience with PLC, -net or Siemens S7 PLC
• Knowledge of controlled drive engineering
• Familiarity with automation technology, e.g. conveyors, automated cranes, packaging technology
• Knowledge of bus systems, e.g. Ethernet, ASI, Profibus
• Experience with AUTOCAD or E-Plan is a plus
