RXM - Asst Manager/Senior Exec Operational Risk
A leading international bank is seeking an Assistant Manager, Operational Risk to join their team in KL.
What you'll do:
Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust operational risk management framework across the bank including fraud risk management and business continuity planning to safeguard the bank’s interests while supporting healthy business growth.
- Promote a strong risk management culture and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, internal policies, and guidelines.
- Serve as the secretariat for BCMC to oversee BCM-related matters.
- Formulate, review, update, and implement operational risk assessment methodologies aligned with the bank’s size, nature of business, and risk profile.
- Measure and monitor operational risk exposures using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Prepare quarterly risk reports and conduct risk detection exercises when necessary.
- Develop, implement, and maintain BCP policies and procedures, including annual risk assessments and Business Impact Analyses (BIA) to identify threats and prioritize recovery efforts for critical functions.
- Organize staff training on business continuity awareness and coordinate communication strategies during disruptions.
- Act as the submission officer for Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Operational Risk Reporting (ORR).
- Provide guidance to departments by developing comprehensive operational risk policies and collaborating with teams to map processes, identify risks, and address control weaknesses.
- Develop and maintain fraud prevention policies, conduct annual risk assessments, and organize staff training programs to enhance fraud awareness and effectiveness.
- Review and propose for the bank-wide BCM, operational and fraud risk appetite setting (revision) and risk limit on an annual basis
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, or related field; professional certification in risk management (e.g., AICB) is a plus.
- At least 6 years of experience in operational risk management or business continuity within banking/financial institutions.
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills, business acumen, and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
- Effective communication skills in English and/or Mandarin (written and verbal).
