Head of Operational Risk and Shariah Risk Management

A respectable Malaysian financial institution is recruiting for a Head of Operational Risk and Shariah Risk Management job.

About the Head of Operational Risk and Shariah Risk Management Role:
As one of the key senior personnel within the Risk Management division, you will ensure both Operational Risk and Shariah Risk are effectively managed within this banking group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the Shariah and operational risk management requirements arising from the banking and takaful activities of the bank
• Plan and strategise the overall framework of Shariah and operational risk management across the bank
• Ensure the Shariah and operational risk management plan and strategy are in line with Group Risk Framework and Policies and regulatory requirements
• Reviewing and formulating plans and strategies to meet with the latest internal and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate the current development of Shariah and operational risk management tools and propose enhancements if required
• Coordinate and review BCP to ensure that the Bank is able to manage crisis events and at the same time meeting compliance requirements for BCP planning
• Working closely with internal and external stakeholders including Bank’s internal committees, regulators and other external bodies

To succeed in this Head of Operational Risk and Shariah Risk Management role, you must have prior experience in Shariah and operational risk management.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance or its equivalent in relevant fields. Shariah-related certification will be an added advantage
• At least 10 years of hands-on operational risk experience with exposures in shariah risk management
• Strong analytical, organisational, managerial and leadership skills
• Ability to communicate and interact with various stakeholders including regulatory bodies and authorities
• Good presentation and report writing skills
